In the bleak future of 1997, Manhattan is a maximum security prison where all sentences are life. Air Force One has the singular misfortune crashing on the island with the U.S. President aboard. He would be written off were he not carrying a data tape vital to national security. Ex-special ops soldier and convicted bank robber S. D. "Bob" Plissken (call him Snake) is offered a pardon if he can rescue the president and the tape in 23 hours. Failure means death.
