Come here to participate in technical discussions about the formation,
scope, and direction of the Nebula Project. If
you have comments or ideas, or interest in contributing to the project,
this is the place to do it. Want to know more? See the Nebula web page at
http://www.eclipse.org/nebula and get involved!

Hi Matt,
the page you mention is about some fundamental statements concerning open
source, RCP etc. So the question is: What is nebula about? There are some
rumors, nebula is for SWT what emft is for emf . (i.e. some "incubator
technology" targeted at SWT). I can't find details.

Why is it that this always happens in eclipse newsgroups. New groups are
created and there's a welcome message which includes nothing whatsoever in
the way of a description. The welcome message may point to a page which
doesn't exist, or doesn't contain useful information.

How would one go about changing eclipse policy so that an overview paragraph
was included in the welcome message when creating a new newsgroup from some
code-named project? Perhaps there's already a rule against including useful
information to maintain an aura of marketing mystique?

There is then the inevitable set of posts asking "what the heck is it?" and
when do we get started and is there an initial contribution, etc.
</rant>

Oh well, I remember poking around eclipse.org and although I've no
connection to this project it does seem like it will be an incubator for SWT
stuff -- higher level components that don't have native O/S counter-parts
or, under special circumstances, extra often-requested special functionality
for things which do.

The webpage at eclipse.org/nebula is currently just a placeholder.

You're right, Nebula is an incubator for SWT widgets. We will have some
more specifics soon. For now, you can review the project proposal slides:
