Editorial Reviews
Review
European Journal of Paediatric Surgery
"A brief review such as this cannot do justice to a textbook that is sure to take its place among the finest ever published for general surgeons...marvel at the quality of the information presented by the authors, the outstanding editorship, the superb illustrations, and, by the way, the modest cost in a time of escalating and often unaffordable prices for medical students and residents."―JAMA
A particular effort with presentation, with illustrations and figures in colour which are very readable and all accessible on CD-ROM.
The authors knew to reconcile tradition and modernism with this monumental work, which is addressed to surgeons, general practitioners and the student to the experienced surgeon.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2019Good Purchase for Medical Library
- Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2012I bought this book because it was recommended by a surgical attending. The book has appropriate detail and is very clear and easy to read. I also like the illustrations. It doesn't go into detail about the surgical procedures, but that can be gotten elsewhere.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2012Exactly what we wanted at a very good price. Shipping was fast and everything went accordingly to expectations. Was a gift to a friend. She loved it.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2010This book is a must. The best out there. Don't rely on screen books. For somethings, you just must have a reference book, and this is the one to get.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2006Unlike voluminous texts like Harrison's, I find this text written in such a fashion that it becomes a chore to read. Given, I am not going into surgery, but any well written textbook should hold someone's interest. I find the book too vague and low yield for medical students and probably too simplistic for surgical residents. Needless to say, I am going to try to sell it before the new edition comes out.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2014Good book lots of information
- Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2015was as expected
- Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2007At a glance this book shows why I did not become a surgeon. Very good diagrams and photos. Procedures are described in such a way that with my non surgical background I still find the book an entertaining read.
