Is there any reason why non of the trails types for the hiking rules uses the "name" as label ? So on my gps i always see "path" sintead of the name, such as "723".
- No special reason, the rules are work in progress. If you think it makes sense, add labeling. --Breki 06:42, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- I've added an example rule for showing streets without a name (NoName streets) here, but am not sure if its the best place. Feel free to delete or move if it seems more appropriate. I wanted to visualise unnamed streets more readily on my Garmin when out surveying, and as I only have limited memory can't use the Cloudmade maps which have a similar feature. Also these are usually too out-of-date (1-2 weeks) at the moment. I have experimented with both a complete GroundTruth map, and a transparent overlay generated with just the residential noname rule. I think others may find something similar useful. SK53 18:36, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
- Well doesn't really belong to a general rules page, especially not in hiking rules, since residential streets are not of much interest to hikers. It's difficult to make a lot of distinguishable features on the same Garmin map, that's why I made all non-hiking-related roads look the same for these rules - and your rules now make the "no name" streets look the same as hiking paths. If you need such specialized rules, I suggest you create an extra page for them. In the meantime, I'll undo your changes (you can still fetch them through the page's history). --Breki 14:58, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
