This attribute determines the type of a water basin.

It is used in connection with:

  • natural=water + water=reservoir - An artificial lake which may be used to store water. Usually formed by a dam over a natural water course
  • landuse=reservoir - An artificial lake which may be used to store water

reservoir_type=water_storage This tag is deprecated. See Proposed features/Reservoir for details.
reservoir_type=sewage Used to tag sewage ponds.
reservoir_type=tailings This tag is deprecated and has been replaced with man_made=tailings_pond.
reservoir_type=evaporator This tag is deprecated and has been replaced with basin=evaporation or landuse=salt_pond.
