Extend Your Visa

You can extend the period of your lawful stay in Russia for a longer term by extending your visa.

To extend your visa, please prepare all required documents and submit them to the HSE Visa and Registration Centre, via the coordinator or manager of your department no less than 25 working days prior to the expiry date of your visa.

Please prepare the following documents:

• your passport: original + a copy (all pages with stamps, marks and visas);
• a copy of your visa;
• an application form;

• your registration: original + copy (both sides);
• your migration card: original + copy,
• a colour photograph (3.5 х 4.5 cm);
• a confirmation of a state duty payment  (1,600 roubles, please contact us by e-mail at visa-registration@hse.ru;
• a copy of your employment/independent contractor agreement, certified by the HSE Office of Human Resources;
• a new original work permit + copy (for HQS employees).

If you arrive with your family, please also submit their documents to extend their visa. To this end, you must submit:

• original passports + copies of passports of each family member and a copy of your passport (pages with photographs and validity periods);
• a copy of your visa, and visa copies of your family members;
• copies of your family member’s registrations along with a copy of your registration (both sides);
• an original migration card of each family member + 1 copy;
• a colour photograph of each family member (3.5 х 4.5 cm);
• a confirmation of the state duty payment (1,600 roubles, please contact us by e-mail at visa-registration@hse.ru to get a pay slip);
• a copy of your employment/independent contractor agreement, certified by the HSE Office of Human Resources;
• a copy of your work permit (for HQS employees);
• a copy of your marriage certificate or birth certificates of your children.

To extend your visa, please prepare all necessary documents and submit them in person to the HSE Visa and Registration Centre no less than 25 working days prior to the expiry date of your visa.

You must extend your registration at your place of residence after you receive the new visa (please contact the passport officer if you live in the HSE Guesthouse, or ask your landlord to register you at the relevant territorial local office, if you rent an apartment).

We only need the originals of your passport, migration card, registration and work permit on the day when we submit your documents to the local office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Afterwards, you can collect these documents and keep them with you until your multiple-entry visa is ready.

Your multiple-entry visa will be ready within 20 working days upon submission of your documents to the HSE Visa and Registration Centre.

You will be informed via e-mail or your contact phone number as soon as your visa is ready.

As soon as you are informed that your visa is ready, please present your original passport to the HSE Visa and Registration Centre at Moscow, 11 Pokrovsky Boulevard, Building D, D005/D006. We will keep it for 1-2 working days to get your visa.

You can collect your passport with your multiple-entry visa within 1-2 working days after it was submitted to the HSE Visa and Registration Centre.

You cannot arrive earlier or stay in Russia longer than the dates specified in your visa.

After receiving a new visa, you must extend your registration at your place of residence. If you live in a dormitory/ HSE guesthouse , please contact its passport officer. If you rent an apartment, please ask the landlord to extend your registration at the relevant local territorial office.To get futher information, please visit this page. You shall submit documents the next working day after receiving a new visa.
