Long ago, Ultra Magnus started a coup against his brother Optimus. It ended badly, with Stepper and Jetfire holding Magnus down while Optimus Prime ripped off his face. Invasion

Jetfire became part of Rodimus Prime's crew on Earth aboard the Ark. He was eager to undermine Rodimus's authority, pointing out his cowardice and lack of leadership at every turn. He overreached himself while exploring Side Burn's secret lab, however, blundering into booby traps when Rodimus hesitated to lead the exploration team. Rodimus let Inferno extinguish Jetfire's burning body (eventually). Coalescence

Jetfire slowly realizing he's the Squidward in this work friendship.

Prior to the war, Jetfire was a colleague and friend of Starscream's in their scientific pursuits. The goal they sought after was to unearth the slumbering Metroplex, or at least his head, so that they could uncover information about Titan language and culture in order to further their current world. One day while visiting multiple potential sources of funding for this effort Shattered Glass #3 the two encountered a protest by, and the arrest of, the upstart miner Megatron, Shattered Glass #2 though their reactions differed immensely. While Starscream was excitedly taken in by Megatron and his actions, Jetfire wearily tried to hurry them along, noting they still had several meetings to get to over their research while frustratedly dismissing the miners' plight compared to the duo's own. At their meeting with Orion Pax the senator was receptive to the end goal, though was darkly insistent that their focus on academic research vs military application was incorrect, and was willing to fund them. However, his "concerns" regarding who was to be privy to their results turned Starscream off the prospect, and Jetfire attempted to shush him before the scholar walked out. The two would later secure funds regardless, and the two visited the dig site, trading good-natured barbs over Starscream's excitement at their new reality. Jetfire soured the mood however, as when he expressed concern that their funds could run out before they crack how to communicate with the Titan, Starscream sharply rejected working under Orion Pax even as Jetfire attempted to dissuade his friend's objections. Jetfire soon agreed to drop the matter, though would eventually begin communicating their findings to the senator behind Starscream's back. When one such report was spied on by his friend, Jetfire quickly tried to diffuse the situation, arguing that Starscream would never join the Decepticons and espousing his loyalty and told him to affirm this. When Starscream failed to answer when pressed Jetfire flew into a rage and grabbed him, shouting once more at Starscream to deny being a Decepticon. Starscream did indeed say he was not a Decepticon, but added that this was simply because unlike him, the Decepticons were fighters rising against the encroaching Autobot tyranny. He then expressed his betrayal at Jetfire being okay with this reality while dealing with them, and Jetfire struck him to the ground, then chased him back to Metroplex when Starscream transformed to jet mode and flew out of the meeting room's window. Jetfire just missed Starscream however, and after seeing that his former friend had irreparably corrupted all of the data they had collected, he angrily demanded the Autobots there to find him so that Jetfire could drag him back to Orion. He then kicked the side of the Titan's head in anger. Shattered Glass #3

Jetfire would later be among the Autobots who entered the Earth battlefront, and at some point engaged Starscream there, being shot down in a forest by the Seeker. Shattered Glass #5 He was also present for the war's final battle and was one of the soldiers who engaged Megatron, sporting upgraded armor while he fought the Decepticon leader. He was last observed being served a fierce uppercut during the scuffle. Shattered Glass #2

He later relocated back to Cybertron with the others post-war, Jetfire came to reside in Gold City in particular. He quickly took advantage of Blaster focusing on Megatron instead of his assigned target, and took the opportunity to deliver Starscream to Goldbug himself. Shattered Glass #3 Even after all this time he was still utterly focused on the Metroplex project, and stressed to Goldbug that they couldn't simply rip out Starscream's spark as that would risk damaging it and the communication key within. He attempted to persuade Starscream to hand it over willingly, remarking to Slicer that this wasn't personal on Starscream's part, instead being his dedication to the Decepticon cause. When Goldbug pressed him again after returning from killing Skywarp, Jetfire once more insisted to the increasingly irate warlord that he needed time to get the key, and then restrained him from frying the Seeker with their torture device, emphasizing how much Goldbug wanted himself a Titan. When Goldbug proceeded to level his cannon at Starscream after slaughtering the Insecticons, Jetfire immediately cried out "NO!" Shattered Glass #4

Jetfire REEEEALLY likes playing Chewbacca in LEGO Star Wars.

He defended himself against Goldbug's accusations of stalling his assignment, insisting that they had no idea if the key could be obtained with Starscream dead. Goldbug released Starscream from his restraints to savage him just as Megatron and the Decepticons began their full scale assault on the fortress, and after seeing that Starscream was able to make Goldbug lose control like they always made himself do the same, Jetfire struck the Autobot in the face to defend his friend. He helped Starscream up and attempted to apologize before being stopped and told his actions were enough. The moment didn't get to last, as Goldbug took advantage of their distraction and blasted Starscream in the back. Jetfire cried out at his friend's injury, and was helpless to do anything but watch as Goldbug tore out the Seeker's spark, killing him. His resultant scream of anguish was loud enough to be heard by those fighting outside the compound's walls. He dropped to his knees in disbelief as Goldbug walked out and sent several guards in behind him, taunting the scientist that Starscream was never going to leave alive, and if Jetfire didn't either, it would be nobody's fault but Jetfire's. That final taunt would be the final straw for Jetfire, and it spurred him to immediately stand and grab one of the henchmen by the arms, ripping them from their sockets and slinging the guard into another. He made short work of the rest, internally reflecting on the Autobots' failures to control the Decepticons and bring the order they had promised. He considered both sides to be at fault for Starscream's death, getting him dragged into their ridiculous causes and war, and deciding he'd had enough of it all. He attempted to fly away from the city with Starscream's body, but was spotted and intercepted mid-air by Megatron, who separated the two under the mistaken belief that Jetfire was the one responsible for Starscream's death. Jetfire remembered Megatron was the reason Starscream even joined the war in the first place and began shouting in a frenzy that his friend was a scholar they had turned into a soldier, brokenly saying it was his fault as Megatron restrained him, calming him by saying this wasn't what Starscream would want. Megatron collected his fallen comrade's body, promising to establish a memorial once the city had been taken and cleaned up. Jetfire noted they'd already taken the city and asked if Megatron was going to wait until the new Decepticon headquarters was built. When Megatron attempted to deny that, Jetfire interrupted and said it was what Starscream would have done and would have wanted done for him, the cause was that important to the Seeker. Megatron asked Jetfire to help them in Starscream's honor, and track down his spark along with Goldbug. Jetfire sarcastically said he thought Megatron was a good recruiter, before saying he'd consider the offer. His final request before transforming and flying off to parts unknown was make it something quite dramatic as a favor to Starscream. Shattered Glass #5

By the time the Decepticons had begun rebuilding the liberated Gold City into "New Kaon", Jetfire returned to confront Megatron over the lack of action taken to retrieve Starscream's spark. Their argument was observed by Blaster who fired a subsonic irritation to escalate the conflict. Before the two came to blows though, Blaster cancelled the irritation as he neared his true target. Shattered Glass II #2

Taking his leave from the Decepticons, Jetfire made for Metroplex's resting place. With Starscream's spark implanted within the Titan, the ancient mechanoid began to respond to Jetfire's presence, moving whenever the flier got close enough. When Slicer and Goldbug came to blows, Jetfire saw an opportunity for revenge, landing atop the former Autobot and killing him. Before he could open fire on Slicer, the technical Wrecker detached his own arm and had it explode in Jetfire's face. Though the ex-Autobot was unharmed by the attack, it distracted him enough for the other Wreckers to ambush him and drag him into Metroplex. Shattered Glass II #3

Held prisoner with the Titan, Jetfire was freed by Soundwave. Though he was eager to take revenge on Slicer, Soundwave convinced Jetfire of the need to save Starscream's spark, flying the communications chief to the spark chamber. Once Soundwave had severed the connections, Jetfire seized Starscream's spark and flew off from the battle, touching down in the Static Zone. Shattered Glass II #5

Gentei! Gentei!

Gentei-darkskyfire-toy.jpg
  • Dark Skyfire (Voyager, 2010)
  • ID number: C-06
  • Release date: March 18, 2010
  • Accessories: Hydrogen-fuel Turbo Thruster Pack, two-piece rifle, 2 photon missile launchers, 2 infrared homing missiles, helmet
Gentei! Gentei! Dark Skyfire is a Toy Hobby Market-exclusive black redeco and retool of Classics Voyager Class Jetfire. The primary changes to his deco are mainly for making him, uh, darker. Specifically, he's cast in glossy black and purple plastic, with painted purple details and new thin white stripes on his wings. The tips of his backpack cannons have been significantly remolded to make the barrels and stalks on which they are mounted a single, newly-jointed piece, with the result being that the cannons' bodies stick out ever so slightly from their housing. This change is likely to make the barrels more durable under the constant spring-loaded strain of being hidden, as well as allow one to pivot and deploy the cannons without sliding back the panels that are keeping them hidden, due to the fact that deploying the cannons this way with the previous tooling often resulted in the (detachable) tips of the cannons to pop out and send them flying. As with all Henkei toys, he lacks the heat-sensitive rubsign seen on the Classics release, but instead has some vacuum-metallized parts (his jetpack's exhaust nozzles).
The extent of Dark Skyfire's 'Dark' originally varied from image to image: early pre-production mockup images showed a dark matte grey similar to e-Hobby Astrotrain, whilst later images appeared gloss black with high-contrast silver details, leading to speculation that this redeco is the previously unreleased 'ghost' Classics Jetfire. Some possible hints of this remain, such as the Hasbro Classics-styled open cockpit instead of Henkei's half-painted version, as well as some entirely new paint operations, such as the added stripes on the sides of the intakes just behind his shoulders.
Pre-orders for Dark Skyfire opened up on November 12 and closed on December 11, 2009, with the toys finally shipping sometime in March 2010.
This figure was also repurposed as Wings Universe Zardak.

Shattered Glass Collection

He's one of those fifth-generation fighter jets we were told about.
  • Jetfire (Commander Class, 2022)
  • Accessories: Dual rifles, twin-barreled blasters, battle mask, wing guns, shoulder guns, 6 "Fire Blast effects"
  • Known designers: Mark Maher (Hasbro)
Released as the final piece in the first year of the Shattered Glass Collection subline, Jetfire is a redeco of Siege Jetfire, notable as the first Selects-style redeco of a Commander Class figure from the War for Cybertron Trilogy toyline. Jetfire is also the first Shattered Glass Collection figure to be based on a repurposed toy, as opposed to an original Timelines figure.
The 5 mm post-hole rings on Jetfire's hands are designed to recess into his palms when his fingers are extended forward so he looks less awkward in an open-handed pose. Adding Jetfire's armor and battle mask gives his robot mode a closer appearance to his original-toy. Curiously, the faction symbol's ability to swivel between Autobot or Deception allegiances from the Siege release has been retained, featuring the purple Autobot and red Decepticon insignias respectively.[1]
Jetfire's vehicle mode features deployable landing gear with rolling wheels and four pop-out handles on his underside that allow other War for Cybertron figures (or any toy or accessory with a 5 mm grip) to hang underneath him, letting him deploy his comrades from above. He can also carry up to three Titan Masters or Prime Masters in jet mode: removing the filler computer core inside his cockpit (by folding down the nosecone) reveals space for one Master, while the back end of Jetfire's backpack lifts up to reveal space for two more Masters. The core also has a 5 mm hole in it so um... there's that. There is a 5 mm hexagonal port on his underside that appears to be for heavier-duty flight stands, since it is recessed too far to peg in any of his own weapons. Some transformation joints on his wings can also simulate working air flaps.
In either mode, his many many C.O.M.B.A.T. System weapons can be mounted on him in a variety of ways. His twin rifles can be combined into a single double-barreled gun vaguely similar to the original animation model's double-barreled cannon. In this configuration they form the core of a massive pile of weapons and armor that goes on top of his jet mode (as if he wasn't anti-aerodynamic enough). Jetfire's two twin-barreled cannons are two-part weapons that can be pulled apart for even more versatility. Jetfire features a large number of 3 mm "blast effect" hardpoints all over his body and on the tips of his weapons. Jetfire features 6 different "Fire Blast effects" as opposed to his heroic counterpart's two three-part effects.
Jetfire also includes the fifth issue of IDW Publishing's Shattered Glass "Shards" mini-series, with an exclusive cover featuring spot UV.
As with the rest of the subline, Jetfire is a Hasbro Pulse exclusive in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
