     Francis Courtenay was born circa 1576.¹ He was the son of Sir William Courtenay and Lady Elizabeth Manners.¹ He married, secondly, Elizabeth Seymour, daughter of Sir Edward Seymour, 2nd Bt. and Dorothy Killigrew.¹ He married, firstly, Mary Pole, daughter of Sir William Pole and Mary Periam, on 7 November 1606.¹ He died on 3 June 1638.¹ He was buried on 5 June 1638 at Powderham, Devon, England^G.
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Devon in 1625.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Grampound in 1626.¹ He succeeded as the 4th of Devon [E., 1553] on 24 June 1630, de jure.¹

     Mary Pole was christened on 26 June 1586 at Shute, Devon, England^G. She was the daughter of Sir William Pole and Mary Periam.^1,2 She married, firstly, Nicholas Hurst before 1606.¹ She married, secondly, Francis Courtenay, son of Sir William Courtenay and Lady Elizabeth Manners, on 7 November 1606.¹ She died, without issue.¹
     From before 1606, her married name became Hurst.¹ Her married name became Courtenay.

     Sir Thomas de Multon, 1st Lord Multon was born on 21 February 1276.² He was the son of Thomas de Multon.² He married Eleanor de Burgh, daughter of Richard de Burgh, 2nd Earl of Ulster, on 3 January 1297 at St. Peter's Priory, Ipswich, Suffolk, England^G.³ He died before 8 February 1321/22.²
     He was created 1st Lord Multon [England by writ] on 6 February 1298/99.¹

     Sir William Pole was baptised on 27 August 1561.¹ He was the son of William Pole and Katherine Popham.² He married, firstly, Mary Periam, daughter of Sir William Periam, on 30 July 1583.² He married, secondly, Jane Symes, daughter of William Symes.² He died on 9 February 1635 at age 73.²
     He was an antiquarian.² They had five other sons and four other daughters.² He lived at Colcomb, Devon, England.²

     Mary Periam was the daughter of Sir William Periam. She married Sir William Pole, son of William Pole and Katherine Popham, on 30 July 1583.¹ She died circa 5 May 1606.¹ She was buried on 8 May 1606.¹
     From 30 July 1583, her married name became Pole.¹ They had five other sons and four other daughters.¹

     Sir William Periam held the office of Lord Chief Baron of the Exchequer.¹

     Elizabeth Seymour was the daughter of Sir Edward Seymour, 2nd Bt. and Dorothy Killigrew.¹ She married, firstly, Francis Courtenay, son of Sir William Courtenay and Lady Elizabeth Manners.¹ She married, secondly, Sir Amos Meredith, 1st Bt.¹ She died before 6 February 1664.¹
     Her married name became Meredith.¹ Her married name became Courtenay.¹

     Sir Edward Seymour, 2nd Bt. was the son of Sir Edward Seymour, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Champernowne.² He married Dorothy Killigrew, daughter of Sir Henry Killigrew and Catherine Cooke, on 15 December 1600.² He died on 5 October 1659.
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Penrhyn in 1601.² He was appointed Knight in 1603.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Newport between 1603 and 1611.² He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Seymour, of Berry Pomeroy [E., 1611] on 11 April 1613.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lyme Regis in 1614.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Devon from 1621 to 1622.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Callington from 1624 to 1625.² His castle at Berry Pomeroy was destroyed in the Civil War.²

     Dorothy Killigrew was the daughter of Sir Henry Killigrew and Catherine Cooke.² She married Sir Edward Seymour, 2nd Bt., son of Sir Edward Seymour, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Champernowne, on 15 December 1600.¹ She died circa 27 June 1643.¹ She was buried on 30 June 1643.¹
     Her married name became Seymour.
