George Pleydell Mansel1

     George Pleydell Mansel was born on 4 December 1817.1 He was the son of Colonel John Mansel and Louisa Pleydell.2 He married Jemima Henrietta Gambier, daughter of William Gambier and Henrietta Dorothea Maria Hope, on 7 March 1848.1 He died on 26 March 1896 at age 78.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 60th Rifles.1 He gained the rank of Honorary Colonel in the Dorset Rifle Volunteers.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)1 He lived at Smedmore, Dorset, EnglandG.1

     Jemima Henrietta Gambier was born in 1826.2 She was the daughter of William Gambier and Henrietta Dorothea Maria Hope.3 She married George Pleydell Mansel, son of Colonel John Mansel and Louisa Pleydell, on 7 March 1848.1 She died on 2 June 1896.1
     From 7 March 1848, her married name became Mansel.

     Henrietta Dorothea Maria Hope was born in 1790.2 She was the daughter of John Williams Hope and Anne Goddard.1 She married, firstly, Lt.-Gen. Reynoud Diederik Jacob van Reede, 7th Earl of Athlone, son of Frederik Christiaan Reinhart van Reede, 5th Earl of Athlone and Anna Elisabeth Christina van Tuyll van Serooskerken, on 19 March 1818 at British Embassy, Paris, FranceG.1 She married, secondly, William Gambier, son of Sir James Gambier and Jemima Snell, on 4 May 1825 at Great Cumberland Street, London, EnglandG.1 She died on 3 September 1830 at London, EnglandG.1 She died intestate and her estate was administered in November 1830.1
     After her marriage, Henrietta Dorothea Maria Hope was styled as Countess of Athlone on 19 March 1818. From 19 March 1818, her married name became van Reede.1 From 4 May 1825, her married name became Gambier.1
