     Charles John Tottenham, 8th Marquess of Ely was born on 30 May 1913.1 He was the son of George Leonard Tottenham and Cécile Elizabeth Burra.2 He married, firstly, Katherine Elizabeth Craig, daughter of Lt.-Col. W. H. Craig, on 23 June 1938.1 He married, secondly, Elspeth Ann Hay, daughter of P. T. Hay, on 28 December 1978.3 He died on 1 February 2006 at age 92.3
     He was educated at Collège de Genève, International School, Geneva, SwitzerlandG.1 He graduated from Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, CanadaG, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was an instructor in French between 1936 and 1937 at Royal Military College, Kingston, Ontario, CanadaG.1 He was the Principal between 1937 and 1981 at Boulden House, Trinity College School, Port Hope, Ontario, CanadaG.1 He succeeded as the 8th Viscount Loftus of Ely [I., 1789] on 31 May 1969.2 He succeeded as the 8th Baron Loftus of Loftus Hall, co. Wexford [I., 1785] on 31 May 1969.2 He succeeded as the 8th Marquess of Ely [I., 1801] on 31 May 1969.1 He succeeded as the 8th Earl of Ely [I., 1794] on 31 May 1969.1 He succeeded as the 9th Baronet Tottenham [I., 1780] on 31 May 1969.2 He succeeded as the 8th Baron Loftus of Long Loftus, co. York [U.K., 1801] on 31 May 1969.2

     George Leonard Tottenham was born on 20 April 1879.1 He was the son of Major Charles Robert Worsley Tottenham and Dorothea Anne Cornwall.2 He married Cécile Elizabeth Burra, daughter of James Salkeld Burra, on 1 August 1912.1 He died on 9 June 1928 at age 49.1

     Harriet Dorothea Despard was the daughter of General John Despard.1 She married Vice-Admiral Henry Francis Greville, son of Lt.-Col. Henry Francis Greville and Sophia Whyte, on 3 July 1816.1 She died on 28 December 1856.1

     Sophia Whyte was the daughter of Francis Xavier Whyte.1 She married, firstly, Sir Henry Lambert, 4th Bt., son of Sir John Lambert, 3rd Bt. and Mary Lieniepes, in 1788.2 She married, secondly, Lt.-Col. Henry Francis Greville, son of Fulke Greville and Frances Macartney, on 25 February 1805.1 She died on 21 March 1839.1
     From 1788, her married name became Lambert. Her married name became Greville.

     Sir Bellingham Graham, 5th Bt. was baptised on 14 June 1729. He was the son of Sir Reginald Graham, 4th Bt. and Jacoba Catherina Graham.2 He married Elizabeth Hudson, daughter of Benjamin Hudson, on 24 June 1763.1 He died on 3 October 1790 at age 61.1
     He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Graham, of Norton Conyers, co. York [E., 1662] on 29 October 1755.1 He held the office of High Sheriff for Yorkshire between 1770 and 1771.1
