Arthur Godfrey James was born on 22 October 1876.1 He was the son of John Henry James and Jane Ramsden Ashworth.1 He married Helen Maitland, daughter of Thomas Maitland, on 3 March 1910.1 He died on 3 February 1959 at age 82.1
