     Sir John Paget Mellor, 1st Bt. was born on 13 March 1862.1 He was the son of Rt. Hon. John William Mellor and Carole Paget.1,2 He married Mabel Pearce-Serocold, daughter of George Edward Serocold Pearce-Serocold and Amy Richardson, on 24 July 1890.2 He died on 4 February 1929 at age 66.1
     He graduated from Trinity Hall, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1883 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He graduated from Trinity Hall, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1883 with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.)2 He was admitted to Middle Temple in 1886 entitled to practise as a barrister-at-law.2 He was Assistant Solicitor to the Treasury between 1894 and 1909.2 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) on 9 November 1905.2 He was Procurator-General and Solicitor to the Treasury between 1909 and 1923.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Somerset.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) on 19 June 1911.2 He was created 1st Baronet Mellor [U.K.] on 24 January 1924.2
