Major Sir Hamish Stewart Forbes of Newe, 7th Bt. was born on 15 February 1916.2 He was the son of Lt.-Col. James Stewart Forbes and Feridah Frances Taylor.2 He married, firstly, Jacynthe Elizabeth Mary Underwood, daughter of Eric Gordon Underwood, on 2 June 1945.2 He and Jacynthe Elizabeth Mary Underwood were divorced in 1981.2 He married, secondly, Mary Christine Rigby, daughter of Ernest William Rigby, in 1981.2 He died on 3 September 2007 at age 91.3
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He was educated at Lawrenceville, Illinois, U.S.A.G.2 He was educated at School of Oriental and African Studies, London University, London, EnglandG.2 He fought in the Second World War, was captured at Dunkirk and became a POW.2 He was served with the Welsh Guards in France, Germany, Turkey between 1939 and 1958.2 He was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1945.2 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1945.2 He gained the rank of Major in the Grenadier Guards.2 He was appointed Knight, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (K.St.J.) in 1984.2 He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Forbes, of Newe [U.K., 1823] on 23 July 1984.2 He lived in 2003 at Newe, Strathdon, Aberdeenshire, ScotlandG.2
