     Brigadier Hardress Jocelyn de Warrenne Waller was born on 5 May 1917 at Perth, Perthshire, Scotland.1 He was the son of Edgar de Warrenne Waller and Dorothy Carlisle.1 He married Lygia Janina Banasinski in September 1940 at The Cathedral of the Holy Name, Bombay, India.1 He died on 6 March 2010 at age 92.1
     He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, England.1 He fought in the Second World War, in India and Burma.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)1 He gained the rank of Brigadier in the Royal Horse Artillery.1 He was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1956.1 He was director general of the Racecourse Association between 1968 and 1975.1
