James Douglas McGarel-Hogg, 2nd Baron Magheramorne of Magheramorne was born on 16 January 1861.2 He was the son of James MacNaghten McGarel-Hogg, 1st Baron Magheramorne of Magheramorne and Hon. Caroline Elizabeth Emma Douglas-Pennant.2 He married Lady Evelyn Harriet Ashley-Cooper, daughter of Anthony Ashley-Cooper, 8th Earl of Shaftesbury and Lady Harriet Augusta Anna Seymourina Chichester, on 23 October 1889.1 He died on 10 March 1903 at age 42.2
