Samuel Edwin was born on 12 March 1671.1,2 He was the son of Sir Humphrey Edwin and Elizabeth Sambrooke.1 He married Lady Catherine Montagu, daughter of Robert Montagu, 3rd Earl of Manchester and Anne Yelverton, on 20 September 1697.1 He died on 27 September 1722 at age 51.2
He matriculated at Pembroke College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, on 15 April 1687.2 He was admitted to Lincoln's Inn on 11 July 1689 entitled to practise as a barrister-at-law.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Minehead from 11 April 1717 to 23 May 1717.2 He lived at Llanmihangel Plas, Glamorgan, Wales.2
