Sir Basil Dixwell, 2nd Bt. was born on 11 December 1665.1 He was the son of Sir Basil Dixwell, 1st Bt. and Dorothy Peyton.1 He married Dorothy Temple, daughter of Sir John Temple and Jane Yarner.1 He married Catherine Longueville, daughter of William Longueville, on 25 April 1720.1 He died between 26 March 1750 and 28 March 1750.1
He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Dixwell [E., 1660] on 7 May 1668. He was educated at Christ Church College, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Dover from 1689 to 1690.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Dover between 1695 and 1700.1 He held the office of Lieutenant-Governor of Dover Castle between 1696 and 1702.1 He held the office of Lieutenant-Governor of Dover Castle between 1714 and 1750.1
