     He was educated at Lincoln College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.¹ He wrote the book Flora Oxoniensis, published 1794.¹ He was Sherardian Professor of Botany at Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.¹

     Colonel Thomas Symes married Caroline Draper Nevill, daughter of Thomas Nevill, before 1807.¹ He died before 1807.¹
