Sir Thomas Southwell was born circa 1542 at Meredith, Kent, England.2 He was the son of Sir Robert Southwell and Margaret Neville.2 He married, firstly, Mary Jerningham, daughter of Sir Henry Jerningham and Frances Baynham, before 1561.2 He married, thirdly, Nazareth Newton, daughter of Sir John Newton and Margaret Poyntz, before 1568.1 He married Mary Maunsell, daughter of Sir Rice Mansel and Cecilia Dabridgecourt, in 1558.3 He died in 1568.1 His will was proven (by probate) on 30 June 1568.1
