Malcolm McEacharn Mitchell-Thomson, 3rd Baron Selsdon was born on 27 October 1937.1 He is the son of Patrick William Malcolm Mitchell-Thomson, 2nd Baron Selsdon and Phoebette Swithinbank.1 He married, firstly, Patricia Anne Smith, daughter of Donald Smith, on 2 June 1965.1 He married, secondly, Gabrielle Williams in 1995.1
He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Sub-Lieutenant in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Selsdon, of Croydon, Surrey [U.K., 1932] on 7 February 1963.1 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Mitchell-Thomson [U.K., 1900] on 7 February 1963.1 He was local director of Singer and Friedlander in 1972.1 He was with C T Bowring between 1972 and 1976.1 He was director of Mildand Bank Group between 1976 and 1990.1
