     William Ley, 4th Earl of Marlborough was the son of James Ley, 1st Earl of Marlborough and Mary Pettie. He died in 1679.
     He gained the title of 4th Earl of Marlborough. On his death, his title became extinct.

     James Ley, 3rd Earl of Marlborough was born in 1618. He was the son of Henry Ley, 2nd Earl of Marlborough. He died on 3 June 1665, killed in action in command of the Old James, in action with the Dutch fleet.
     He gained the title of 3rd Earl of Marlborough.
