Edward Mostyn Webb-Bowen was born on 21 September 1851 at Camrose Vicarage, Camrose, Pembrokeshire, Wales.1 He was the son of Reverend William Wheeler Webb-Bowen and Olivia Anne Duffin.1 He married Bridget Maria Power on 22 February 1876 at Tenterfield, New South Wales, Australia.1 He died on 23 November 1879 at age 28 at Gundagai, New South Wales, Australia, after being wounded by Captain Moonlite's gang 6 days earlier at Wantabadgery.1
He was educated at Brompton Grammar School, Brompton, London, England.1 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He emigrated to Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, arriving on 18 July 1873 on board Marietta.1 He was with the Queensland Police, when he was speared in the groin by local Aborigines between 1874 and 1875.1 He was with the New South Wales Police between March 1875 and December 1878.1 In 1876 at Tenterfield, New South Wales, Australia, he shot a Mr Plummer while arresting himself - Mr Plummer died the following day.1 On 14 July 1877 at Bendemeer, New South Wales, Australia, he shot and killed a Frederick Cranley who was robbing a hotel.1 In March 1879 at Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, he became insolvent.1 He was with the New South Wales Police between April 1879 and November 1879 at Gundagai, New South Wales, Australia.1
