He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, in 1887 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, in 1889 with a Bachelor of Medicine (M.B.)1 He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, in 1889 with a Bachelor of Obstretic Arts (B.A.O.)1 He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, in 1889 with a Bachelor of Surgery (B.Ch.)1 He was commissioned on 28 July 1891 with the rank of Surgeon-Captain, in the service of the Army Medical Corps.1 He fought in the North-West Frontier between 1897 and 1898.1 He gained the rank of Major on 28 July 1903.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel on 13 September 1913.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1917.1 He gained the rank of Colonel on 26 December 1917.1 He gained the rank of Major-General in 1918.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1918.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) in 1922.1
