     Captain Edward Williams Pilkington was born on 14 December 1803.1 He was the son of Reverend Charles Pilkington and Harriet Elizabeth Williams.1 He was baptised on 16 December 1803 at St. Pancras, Chichester, Sussex, England.1 He married Louisa Frances Bayton on 29 April 1835 at Aldingbourn, Sussex, England.1 He died on 13 March 1869 at age 65.1 He was buried at Ryde Old Cemetery, Ryde, Isle of Wight, England.1
     He was educated in 1817 at Royal Naval College, Darmouth, Devon, England.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.1 He fought in the Crimean War.1
