Lieutenant Rhys Campbell ffolliott Powell was born on 24 June 1892.2 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Sir Charles Herbert Powell and Alice Mackenzie.3 He was baptised on 3 October 1892 at Dharm Ala, Bengal, India.2 He married Sylvia James, daughter of Major William Charles James, before 1914. He died on 14 September 1914 at age 22, killed in action.3
He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the 2nd Battalion, Highland Light Infantry.3 He fought in the First World War.3
