Sir Thomas Hackett was the son of James Hackett and Aison White.2 He married Mary Arthur, daughter of John Arthur.1 He died in 1706.1
He was a leading merchant and trader of Dublin.1 He appears to have acted as banker and moneylender to many of the principal nobility and gentry of his time.1 As a staunch Jacobite he was outlawed and all his property seized at the fall of King James II.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Dublin.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Portarlington.1 He held the office of Lord Mayor of Dublin in 1685.1
