Nicolaas I van Borselen Heer van Sandijk Kleverskerke en Brigdamme was born in 1285.1 He was the son of Wolfert I van Borselen Heer van Veere Zandenburg Sandijk en Kleverskerke and Sybille Praet van Randenrode Vrouwe van Heusden Waterland en Schoudee.1 He married Hedwig van Strijen, daughter of Hugheman van Strijen Heer van Zevenbergen and unknown daughter van Naaldwijk.1 He died in 1357.1 He was buried at Tertianen Abbey, Middelburg, The Netherlands.1
