Marie Ernestine von der Schulenburg was the daughter of Wilhelm Leopold von der Schulenburg.1 She married Sir Henry Francis Howard, son of Henry Howard and Catherine Mary Neave, on 30 August 1841.1 She died on 25 December 1897.1

Sir Henry Howard was born on 11 August 1843.1 He was the son of Sir Henry Francis Howard and Marie Ernestine von der Schulenburg.2 He married Cecilia Riggs, daughter of George Washington Riggs, on 2 October 1867.1 He died on 4 May 1921 at age 77.1
He was with the Diplomatic Service in 1865.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of St. Michael and St. George (G.C.M.G.)2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)1 He held the office of Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipoteniary to the Holy See between 1914 and 1916.1
