     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in 1951 in the Queen's Bays.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the City of London Yeomanry.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Essex in 1977.1 He was chairman of Associated Container Transportation (Australia) between 1979 and 1982.1 He was President of General Council of British Shipping
