Sir Leonard David Wilkinson, 2nd Bt. was born on 18 January 1920.1 He is the son of Sir George Henry Wilkinson, 1st Bt. and Freda Dorothy Volland.2 He married Sylvia Ruby Eva Anne Gater, daughter of Professor Bosley Alan Rex Gater, on 20 July 1946.1 He and Sylvia Ruby Eva Anne Gater were divorced in 1967.1 He died on 1 November 1972 at age 52.1
Sir Leonard David Wilkinson, 2nd Bt. usually went by his middle name of David.1 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He gained the rank of officer in 1939 in the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He was commander of the 801 Squadron 1944 and 803 1st Royal Canadian Naval Air Squadron.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (D.S.C.) in 1943.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Commander in 1944.1 He was Governor between 1958 and 1972 at Bridewell Royal Hospital.1 He was Assistant Director-General of St. John Ambulance Association between 1964 and 1968.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Wilkinson, of Brook, Witley, co. Surrey [U.K., 1941] on 27 June 1967.1 He was appointed Knight, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (K.St.J.)1
