     Lt.-Col. Richard Osbaldeston Spencer-Smith was born on 18 February 1885.1 He was the son of Reverend Orlando Spencer Smith and Theodosia England.2 He married, firstly, Murielle Alethe Victoria Wingfield-Stratford, daughter of Leonard Guise Wingfield-Stratford and Alethe Sylvia Montgomery, on 20 June 1912.1 He married, secondly, Christian Louisa Passy, daughter of Lt.-Col. H. E. Passy, on 7 September 1932.2 He died on 24 March 1962 at age 77.2
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He graduated from St. John's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded and was mentioned in dispatches.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel and Brevet-Colonel in the Hampshire Regiment.1 He was commander of the Princess Beatrice's Isle of Wight Rifles between 1932 and 1936.1

     From 20 June 1912, her married name became Spencer-Smith.

James Percy Earp and May Wilde, on 29 October 1948.1 He died in 1988.1
     He was educated at Chillon College, Montreux, SwitzerlandG.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Hampshire Regiment.1
