Ralph Leigh Ramsbotham was born on 17 November 1872.1 He was the son of John Ramsbotham and Emilie Helen Leigh Clare.2 He married May Elizabeth West, daughter of Alfred Thomas West, on 8 July 1903.1 He died in August 1937 at age 64.1
He was educated at Lancing College, Lancing, Sussex, England.1 He graduated from Clare College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1897 entitled to practise as a barrister.1
