     John Hamilton, 1st of Airdrie was the son of Sir Robert Hamilton of Fingalton and Preston and Margaret Mowat.2 He married Ellen Crawford.1 He died on 9 September 1513 at Flodden Field, Northumberland, England, killed in action.1
     He leased Airdrie from the Abbot of Newbottle.1 He fought in the Battle of Flodden Field on 9 September 1513.1
