Reverend Edward Henry Abney was born on 22 September 1811.1 He was the son of William Wotton Abney and Elizabeth Richardson.1 He married Catherine Strutt, daughter of Jedidiah Strutt, on 31 January 1833.1 He died on 13 May 1892 at age 80.1
He graduated from Exeter College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1833 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was Curate at Micklegate, Yorkshire, England.1 He was Vicar between 1841 and 1886 at St. Alkmund's, Derby, Derbyshire, England.1 He held the office of Prebendary of Lichfield Cathedral in 1873.1
