     Esme Ivo Bligh, 9th Earl of Darnley was born on 11 October 1886.1 He was the son of Ivo Francis Walter Bligh, 8th Earl of Darnley and Florence Rose Morphy.1 He married, firstly, Daphne Rachel Mulholland, daughter of Hon. Alfred John Mulholland and Mabel Charlotte Saunderson, on 25 June 1912.1 He and Daphne Rachel Mulholland were divorced in 1920.1 He married, secondly, Nancy Ellinor Kidston, daughter of Captain Archibald Glen Kidston and Hélène Adeline Blanche Chapman, on 11 October 1923.1 He and Nancy Ellinor Kidston were divorced in 1936.1 He married, thirdly, Rosemary Potter, daughter of Edmund Basil Potter, on 3 November 1940.1 He died on 29 May 1955 at age 68.1
     He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Air Force, but was later a pacifist.1 He succeeded as the 9th Viscount Darnley of Athboy, co. Meath [I., 1723] on 10 April 1927.1 He succeeded as the 9th Earl of Darnley, co. Meath [I., 1725] on 10 April 1927.1 He succeeded as the 9th Baron Clifton of Rathmore, co. Meath [I., 1721] on 10 April 1927.1 He succeeded as the 18th Lord Clifton, of Leighton Bromswold [E., 1608] on 5 July 1937.1 He was a painter, musician and flower-breeder.1 He was 6' 7" tall.1
