     John Thomas Quill was born on 24 September 1791.1 He was the son of Thomas Quill and Mary Teahan.1 He married Lucinda Mahoney on 15 October 1822 at Killarney, County Kerry, Ireland.1 He died in 1853 at Blackrock, County Dublin, Ireland.1
     He gained the rank of Ensign in 1809 in the 15th Regiment (East Yorkshire Regiment.)1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1812.1 He fought in the Capture of Guadeloupe in August 1815.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant on 29 April 1824 in the 1st Royal Veteran Battalion.1 He gained the rank of Captain between October 1838 and 1841 in the 82nd Regiment.1
