Sir Hugh Portman, 4th Bt. was born circa 1608.1 He was the son of Sir John Portman, 1st Bt. and Anne Gifford.2 He died before 14 May 1632, unmarried.1
He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Portman, of Orchard Portman, co. Somerset [E., 1612] on 12 December 1624.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Taunton in 1625.1 He was educated at Exeter College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Taunton from 1628 to 1629.2

Sir William Portman, 5th Bt. was born circa 1610.1 He was the son of Sir John Portman, 1st Bt. and Anne Gifford.2 He married Anne Colles, daughter of John Colles and Elizabeth Wyndham, before 1644.1 He died between September 1645 and 1648 at Tower of London, London, England, while imprisoned.1
He was educated at Wadham College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.2 He was admitted to Middle Temple.1 He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Portman, of Orchard Portman, co. Somerset [E., 1612] before 14 May 1632.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Somerset from 1637 to 1638.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Taunton between February 1640 and 1642/43.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Taunton between April 1640 and May 1640.2 His estate was sequestrated by the Parliamentarians for £20,000.2 He fought in the Battle of Naseby in 1645, where he was taken prisoner by the Parliamentarians.1

Anne Colles is the daughter of John Colles and Elizabeth Wyndham.2 She married Sir William Portman, 5th Bt., son of Sir John Portman, 1st Bt. and Anne Gifford, before 1644.3

Sir William Portman, 6th Bt. was born between 1641 and 1644.1 He was the son of Sir William Portman, 5th Bt. and Anne Colles.2 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Cutler, daughter of Sir John Cutler, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Foote.1 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Southcote, daughter of Sir Thomas Southcote.2 He married, thirdly, Mary Holman, daughter of Sir John Holman.2 He died on 20 March 1689/90, without issue.2
He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Portman, of Orchard Portman, co. Somerset [E., 1612] circa September 1645.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) in 1661.1 He was appointed Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Taunton between 1661 and 1679.2 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in 1664.1 He was educated at All Souls' College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Taunton between 1685 and 1690.2 He fought in the Battle of Sedgemoor on 6 July 1685.2 On 8 July 1685 with Lord Lumley, he captured Duke of Monmouth following the latter's failed uprising.2 On his death, his baronetcy expired, and Orchard Portman and other estates worth £8,000 p.a. passed to his cousin Henry Seymour later Portman.1
