Sir Reginald Henry Portal was born on 6 September 1894.1 He was the son of Edward Robert Portal and Ellinor Kate Hill.2 He married Helen Sophia Anderson, daughter of Frederick Anderson, on 16 September 1926.1 He died on 18 June 1983 at age 88.1
