     Sir Frederick Devereux Pile, 3rd Bt. was born on 10 December 1915.1 He was the son of Sir Frederick Alfred Pile, 2nd Bt. and Vera Millicent Lloyd.2 He married, firstly, Pamela Henstock, daughter of Philip Henstock, on 6 March 1940.1 He married, secondly, Violet Josephine Andrews Cowper, daughter of Alfred Denys Cowper, on 7 April 1984.1 He died on 1 November 2010 at age 94.3
     He was educated at Weymouth College, Weymouth, Dorset, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Staff College, Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG, having also completed a course at the Joint Services Staff College.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Tank Regiment.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1945.1 He fought in the Suez Crisis in 1956.1 He served in the British Joint Services Mission between 1957 and 1960 at Washington, U.S.A.1 He was a Commandant between 1960 and 1962 at Royal Armoured Corps Tank Driving and Maintenance School, Bovington, Dorset, England.1 He was manager of the Vaux Associated Breweries between 1963 and 1965.1 He was general secretary of the Soldiers Daughters' School between 1965 and 1971 at Hampstead, London, England.1 He wrote the book Better Than Riches.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Pile, of Kenilworth House, Rathgar, co. Dublin [U.K., 1900] on 14 November 1976.1 He lived at Beadles, Cowbeech, Sussex, England.1

     From 6 March 1940, her married name became Pile.1
