Thomas Rivett was baptised on 12 May 1713.1 He was the son of Thomas Rivett and Elizabeth Eaton.2 He married Anna Maria Sibley, daughter of Reverend Charles Sibley, in April 1749.1 He died on 6 April 1763 at age 49.1
He was a practising barrister in 1739.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Derbyshire.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Derbyshire in 1745.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Derby between 1748 and 1754.1 He purchased the Calton estate, Staffordshire circa 1750.1 He was co-founder of Cockpit Hill pottery (it lasted till 1779) in 1750.1 He purchased Mapleton Manor, Derbyshire in 1757.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Derbyshire in 1757.1 He held the office of Mayor of Derby between 1761 and 1762.1 He lived at Derby, Derbyshire, England.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Derbyshire in 1763.1
