     Anthony Hammond was born on 1 September 1668 at Somersham, Huntingdonshire, England.1 He married Jane Clarges, daughter of Sir Walter Clarges, 1st Bt. and Jane Wymondsell, on 14 August 1694 at Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England.1 He died on 30 March 1739 at age 70 at Fleet Prison, London, England.1

     He was a Fellow at Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He was Roman Catholic Canon of St. George's Westminster.1
