     Lt.-Col. Hon. William Smyth Bernard was born on 13 September 1792.¹ He was the son of Francis Bernard, 1st Earl of Bandon and Lady Catherine Henrietta Boyle.¹ He married Elizabeth Gilman, daughter of Lt.-Col. unknown Gilman, in 1831.¹ He died on 6 February 1863 at age 70.¹
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.)¹

     Elizabeth Gilman is the daughter of Lt.-Col. unknown Gilman.¹ She married Lt.-Col. Hon. William Smyth Bernard, son of Francis Bernard, 1st Earl of Bandon and Lady Catherine Henrietta Boyle, in 1831.¹
     From 1831, her married name became Bernard.¹

     Lt.-Col. unknown Gilman lived at Clancoole, County Cork, Ireland.¹

     Hon. Henry Boyle Bernard was born on 5 December 1797.¹ He was the son of Francis Bernard, 1st Earl of Bandon and Lady Catherine Henrietta Boyle.¹ He died on 18 June 1815 at age 17 at Waterloo, Belgium, killed in action.¹
     He gained the rank of Cornet in the 1st Dragoon Guards.¹ He fought in the Battle of Waterloo on 18 June 1815.¹

     Lady Cynthia Lettice Margaret Bernard was born on 3 December 1905.¹ She is the daughter of Lt.-Col. Ronald Percy Hamilton Bernard and Lettice Mina Paget.¹ She married, firstly, Lt.-Col. Francis Christesson Darby Tothill, son of Admiral Sir Hugh Tothill, on 21 July 1925.¹ She and Lt.-Col. Francis Christesson Darby Tothill were divorced in 1936.¹ She married, secondly, A/Cdre. Lionel Guy Standish Payne, son of Peter George Stanhope Payne, on 9 December 1947.¹
     In 1925 she was granted a patent of precedence as the daughter of an earl.¹ From 21 July 1925, her married name became Tothill.¹ From 9 December 1947, her married name became Payne.¹

     Admiral Sir Hugh Tothill was appointed Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.)¹ He lived at The Chantry, Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire, England.¹ He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)¹ He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.)¹

     A/Cdre. Lionel Guy Standish Payne was the son of Peter George Stanhope Payne.¹ He married Lady Cynthia Lettice Margaret Bernard, daughter of Lt.-Col. Ronald Percy Hamilton Bernard and Lettice Mina Paget, on 9 December 1947.¹ He died on 13 February 1965.¹
     He was awarded the Air Force Cross (A.F.C.)¹ He gained the rank of Air Commodore in the Royal Air Force.¹ He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)¹ He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.)¹

     Peter George Stanhope Payne was a practising barrister.¹

     Lt.-Gen. Sir Denis John Charles Kirwan Bernard was born on 22 October 1882.¹ He was the son of Percy Brodrick Bernard and Mary Lissey Kirwan.¹ He died on 25 August 1956 at age 73, unmarried.¹
     He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1917.¹ He was awarded the Croix de Guerre.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1919.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in the Royal Ulster Rifles and Rifle Brigade.¹ He was Brigadier on General Staff of the Northern Command, India between 1930 and 1934.¹ He held the office of Aide-de-Camp to HM King George V in 1932.¹ He held the office of Director of Rec. and Organisation, War Office between 1934 and 1936.¹ He was commander of the 3rd Division between 1936 and 1939.¹ He was Colonel of the Royal Ulster Rifles between 1937 and 1947.¹ He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1939.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Galway.¹

     James Boyle Bernard was born on 22 December 1847.¹ He was the son of Rt. Rev. and Hon. Charles Brodrick Bernard and Hon. Jane Grace Dorothea Evans-Freke.¹ He married Emily Georgina Gascoyne, daughter of Major Henry Gascoyne, on 25 April 1876.¹ He died on 31 July 1884 at age 36.¹
     He gained the rank of Captain in the South Cork Militia.¹
