     Raymond de Burgh Money Layard was born on 30 September 1859.1 He was the son of Lt.-Gen. Frederick Peter Layard and Ida Gabrielle Betts.1 He married Isabel Scobell, daughter of Colonel Henry Sales Scobell and Catherine Sarah Jenner Bedford, on 29 December 1892 at British Legation, Tokyo, Japan.1
     He was with H.B.M. Consular Service, Japan in 1881.1

     Isabel Scobell is the daughter of Colonel Henry Sales Scobell and Catherine Sarah Jenner Bedford.1 She married Raymond de Burgh Money Layard, son of Lt.-Gen. Frederick Peter Layard and Ida Gabrielle Betts, on 29 December 1892 at British Legation, Tokyo, Japan.1
     From 29 December 1892, her married name became Layard.1
