Brigadier Sir Harry Ripley Mackeson, 1st Bt. was born on 5 May 1905.1 He was the son of Henry Mackeson and Ella Cecil Ripley. He married Alethea Cecil Chetwynd-Talbot, daughter of Lt.-Col. Reginald George Chetwynd-Talbot and Mary Helen Charlotte Hepburne-Scott, on 22 February 1940.1 He died on 25 January 1964 at age 58.1
He was educated at Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, England.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.1 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in 1925 in the Royal Scots Guards.1 He was Brigade Major of the Egypt between 1938 and 1940.1 He was GSO between 1940 and 1942.1 He was Brigade Commander of the North-West Europe between 1943 and 1944.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Hythe between 1945 and 1950.1 He retired from the military in 1946, with the rank of Brigadier.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Folkestone between 1950 and 1959.1 He held the office of Senior Lord Commissioner of Treasury between 1951 and 1952.1 He was Seretary of Overseas Trade, Board of Trade between 1952 and 1953.1 He was created 1st Baronet Mackeson, of Hythe, Kent [U.K.] on 29 January 1954.1
