Sir Herbert de Maxwell of Carlaverock was the son of Sir Aymer de Maxwell and Mary de Mearns.1,2 He died on 22 July 1298 at Falkirk, Stirlingshire, ScotlandG, killed in action.1
After 27 April 1296 he swore fealty to King Edward I following the English victory at Dunbar.2 He fought in the Battle of Falkirk on 22 July 1298.1
