     Sir Donald Macdonald, 12th of Clanranald and Moidart was the son of Allan Macdonald, 9th of Clanranald and Moidart and Janet Maclean.2 He married Mary Macdonald, daughter of Angus Macdonald of Dunnyveg and the Glens.1 He died in December 1618.1
     In 1610 he made a submission to King James VI and received a charter erecting Castle Tirrim into a Barony.2 He was appointed Knight in 1617 by King James VI.1

     Ranald 'Og' Macdonald, 2nd of Benbecula was the son of Ranald Macdonald, 1st of Benbecula and Margaret Macdonald.2 He married, firstly, Marion Macneil, daughter of Neil 'Og' Macneil, 16th of Barra and Margaret Maclean.2 He married, secondly, Anne Macdonald, daughter of John Macdonald, 13th of Clanranald and Moidart and Moire Macleod, in 1653.1 He married Anne Macdonald, daughter of Dougall Macdonald, 4th of Bornish and Catherine Maclean.2 He died in 1679.1

     Marion Macneil is the daughter of Neil 'Og' Macneil, 16th of Barra and Margaret Maclean.2 She married Ranald 'Og' Macdonald, 2nd of Benbecula, son of Ranald Macdonald, 1st of Benbecula and Margaret Macdonald.2
     Her married name became Macdonald.

     Donald Macdonald, 17th of Clanranald and Moidart and 3rd of Benbecula was the son of Ranald 'Og' Macdonald, 2nd of Benbecula and Marion Macneil.2 He married, firstly, Janet Macdonald, daughter of Donald Macdonald, 14th of Clanranald and Moidart and Marion Macleod.1 He married, secondly, Margaret Mackenzie, daughter of George Mackenzie of Kildern.1 He died in 1730.1
     In 1689 tutor to his cousin Allan 14th of Clanranald.1 He fought in the Battle of Killiecrankie on 27 July 1689, with his cousin Allan, under Dundee.2

     James Macdonald, 1st of Belfinlay was the son of Ranald 'Og' Macdonald, 2nd of Benbecula and Anne Macdonald.2 He married Mary Macdonald, daughter of Alexander Macdonald, 2nd of Kinlochmoidart and Marion Macdonald.1 He died in 1709.1
     In 1682 he received a charter of Belfinlay, Ardbeg, Arldmure, Rosinish, Knockagour, and Cuichmeane, in Benbecula, and Macherineach in Skirbough, from his brother Benbecula.1
