Charles Maclaine was the son of Lachlan Maclaine, 11th of Lochbuie.2 He died in 1704, killed in action.1
He gained the rank of Ensign in the Colonel James Ferguson's Regiment of Foot (The Cameronians.)1 He graduated from Glasgow University, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland, in 1697 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He fought in the Battle of Blenheim in 1704.1
