     Lieutenant Thomas Richard Chetwynd Birkin was born on 5 March 1895.1 He was the son of Sir Thomas Stanley Birkin, 2nd Bt. and Hon. Margaret Diana Hopetoun Chetwynd.1 He died on 12 June 1917 at age 22, killed in action.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 7th Dragoon Guards.1 He fought in the First World War. He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Flying Corps.1
