     John Roderick Kenneth Mackenzie was born on 29 April 1869.¹ He was the son of Major François Mackenzie and Julia Mercer.² He married Kathleen Elizabeth Coulson, daughter of Captain Thomas Howard Blennerhasset Coulson, on 27 May 1893.¹ He died on 26 May 1958 at age 89.¹
     He was educated at Wellington College, Crowthorne, Berkshire, England.¹ He was with the civil service at British Columbia, Canada.¹ He was Assistant Commissioner of the Ministry Food in 1900.¹
