Gilbert Wauchope Hunter Blair was born on 25 October 1868.1 He was the son of Sir Edward Hunter Blair of Blairquhan and Dunskey, 4th Bt. and Elizabeth Wauchope.2 He married Muriel Frances Thorowgood, daughter of Frank Napier Thorowgood and Elizabeth Montgomery Hunter Blair, on 5 January 1904.1 He died on 1 October 1939 at age 70, without issue.1
He fought in the Boer War in 1901, with the Ceylon contingent.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Ceylon.1
